Platelet-Rich Plasma

PRP

Use your own cells and your body’s natural growth factors to revitalise your skin, promote natural collagen formation, and to rejuvenate your youthful appearance.

Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, otherwise known as the Vampire Facelift, is not a new treatment, but it is relatively new to New Zealand. If you have skin which is developing those very fine, crepe-like lines and wrinkles, this treatment is AMAZING!! It is wonderful for treating the crepe-like skin on the neck and décolletage.

It can also be used to rejuvenate the skin on the cheeks and mid-face, and even around the eyes- right up to the lash line. It has been used overseas to treat ageing skin all over the body, including knees, thighs, arms, and stomachs – it is SAFE to use anywhere, as it is a ‘body-own’ physiological product.

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?

The procedure involves drawing some of your own blood (like in a blood test), centrifuging it (spinning it very fast for about 8 minutes), so that it separates into the red blood cells and the plasma parts. The rich platelets are then extracted and injected into your skin. This is done under a topical local anaesthesia (a gel or cream is applied to your skin to numb it for the injecting). More popular these days is a small, local injection, with a cannula (blunt-ended needle) fed under the skin. Cannulas move blood vessels and nerves mostly out of the way, so with an experienced injector, you should get very little bruising. Usually, only a little swelling and slight redness will occur, and you can go to work the next day with nobody the wiser. We prefer to use this technique at Ever Young. On your second treatment it is nice to finish with a Dermal Needling and stem cell serum, to get a double-whammy effect. This can be discussed at your consultation. Ever Young nurses love to work holistically, from all angles, to give your skin the most effective results.

Areas that can be treated
  • forehead
  • crinkling skin around the eyes, cheeks & mid face
  • jaw line
  • chest and decolletage
  • the neck (it’s incredible in making older women’s necks look so much younger!)
  • the backs of the hands and arms, where we really show ageing
  • decreases scarring

These can all be rejuvenated with this treatment. PRP facial rejuvenation can be a one-off treatment, but further cannula injections under the skin can be re-performed at 4-weekly intervals for lines and wrinkles as you desire. At Ever Young we recommend 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart, then booster treatments every 6-12 months. The entire process and injection time is simple and takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour in total. The process is performed in one day and in the same medical clinic. PRP is enriched with your own platelets, stem cells, and growth factors. Once injected into your skin, these substances will accelerate the normal healing process via new collagen formation at the injected area. This process brings long-lasting tissue rejuvenation by your own cells. PRP has been widely used for many years in cosmetic surgery, orthopedics, dentistry, soft tissue implants, and other types of implants.

How long does it last?

Depending on the health and age of your skin, you usually need about 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart. This is followed by touch-up treatments to maintain results, and although results may vary, most patients’ results will last for up to 18 months. Results are not immediate – initially you will see and feel swelling from the fluid, and then once the swelling has subsided, you will not see much at all. Over a few weeks, however, the platelets will stimulate the growth factors which will assist in more collagen growth, and over the ensuing months there will be more improvement in texture and tone.

How much does it cost?

Most Appearance Medicine clinics tend to be charging about $550 per vial – you need at least 2 vials for your whole face, and 2 for the neck.

The 3D Cellular Matrix Facelift

Regen® has developed the Matrix tube, a fantastic concept blending Hyaluronic Acid and PRP products in a single tube. From this new technology, Dr Robin Chok of Adelaide, Australia, revolutionized the entire way we apply the PRP treatment.

With the 3D Cellular Matrix Facelift, Dr Chok has developed a way to give the face an adhesion lift, re-draping the face from the retaining ligaments, giving it almost the kind of lift you would expect from a plastic surgeon’s facelift. This 3D Cellular Matrix Facelift, using PRP, the rejuvenating cells from your own body, boosted with Hyaluronic Acid, also gives a volumetric lift – by applying the PRP at different depths in the skin we can also re-volumize the loss of volume in the face.

Dr Chok’s method – which Ever Young nurses practice – has taken the traditional Vampire Facelift, made famous by Kim Kardashian, into a whole different realm. This new 3D Cellular Matrix Facelift directly engages the natural stem cell reservoirs within fat pads of the face and also the strong muscle tissue layer of the face to create an effect rivalling a mini-facelift.

When following Dr Chok’s revolutionary new method of application, PRP has a shrink-wrapping effect, which leads to firmer skin. Organic, youthful volume is redeveloped in the skin – the skin gets a re-laminating effect, the skin laxity decreases and the skin rejuvenates. PRP targets the source of ageing, not just masks it – your face is truly younger, not just looking younger.

Now Debbie and Stacey in New Zealand, and other top injectors around the world, are embracing the 3D Cellular Matrix Facelift technique, and Stacey, as the national trainer in New Zealand of Regen® PRP, has also been teaching it to doctors and nurses across New Zealand.

Come in to an Ever Young clinic for your 3D Cellular Matrix Facelift – be age-revolutionized today!

What is the process of facial rejuvenation with PRP?

First, a full medical history will be taken prior to your treatment, and you will have an opportunity to discuss all aspects of the treatment with your Appearance Medicine professional. You will also need to complete a consent form before treatment. Platelets gradually increase collagen, which can increase skin thickness and overall health of skin. So, prior to treatment, a blood sample of 20mls is extracted from you in special collecting tubes. This blood is immediately placed in a centrifuge for 8 minutes. When centrifugation is complete, your platelets and plasma will be separated from your red blood cells. The concentration of platelets remaining is 3-10 times that of normal blood. The proteins, growth factors, and other particles the platelets contain, all help the body’s self-healing process. These platelets are extracted and injected into your skin under topical anaesthetic, using a small needle. This entire process is performed within an hour. Visible results will not be immediate. You will see some swelling from the fluid, but once this has subsided you will not, initially, see much change at all. Over 3 weeks, however, the PRP stimulation will gradually improve the texture and tone of your skin, and this improvement will continue over ensuing months.

How many treatments are required?
  • It is advisable to have 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. However, your practitioner will determine your treatment protocol, according to your needs.
How long does it last?
  • Treatment results vary, however, for most patients the results last up to 18 months

Hair Loss Treatment

Hair loss affects approximately 70% of men by the age of 70 years, with 25% of men balding by the age of 30 years. The causes of hair loss are varied, and range from environmental and stress factors, to hormonal imbalances, and depletion of stem cells. Successful management of hair loss requires a balanced and skilled approach. Hair loss is usually a gradual process, with a gradual loss of thickness and strength of individual hair follicles. By providing the right cellular and biochemical environment to these hair follicles, studies have shown that the rate of hair loss can be arrested, and in some cases reversed. Cutting-edge use of the body’s own stem cells, through the administration of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), has been shown to improve hair growth and quality in the long-run. Hair loss also affects approximately 50% of women by the age of 70 years. This can have a huge psychological impact on these individuals. Hair loss in women can also be managed with a variety of medical, hormonal, and stem-cell therapies. Your Appearance Medicine professional will detail an individualised programme to manage and treat your hair loss.

FEMALE PRP-SHOT

This treatment is all about giving women more confidence, helping you feel more attractive. This new procedure can increase your sexual desire, improve orgasms, and can also help treat vaginal dryness and/or incontinence.

There are a lot of treatments available for men dealing with sexual problems – everything from Viagra to penile implants – yet women have been left out in the cold. Research shows that only 14% of women ever talk to their doctor about sex, even though 48% of women are concerned about their sexual function. Research also shows that 1 in 20 women suffer from some kind of sexual disorder. Until now, with no realistic solutions other than hormone replacements or therapy, discussions about women’s sexual issues have largely been confined to the counseling sofa.

Well, for women who struggle, the new PRP-shot is here to help you off the sofa and back into the bedroom.

This natural, revolutionary approach to rejuvenating your sexuality is being used to help treat female sexual disorder (difficulty getting aroused), female orgasmic disorder (difficulty climaxing), and hypoactive sexual desire (low desire). It can also help treat physical conditions interfering with a satisfying sex life, such as urinary incontinence and dyspareunia (pain during sex), both of which can be a result of childbirth, menopause, or simply part of the ageing process.

How does the procedure work?

A small amount of blood is taken and the liquid part of the blood, the plasma, is separated to give us purified and concentrated platelets. These platelets act as “first responders,” immediately traveling to any site in the body that needs repair. Once activated, they direct a healing response by releasing growth and regeneration factors, causing a rapid increase in stem cells, which repair and rejuvenate tissues.

This is called PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, and the technique is used internationally to repair sports injuries quickly and rejuvenate skin and faces. With the PRP-Shot, this plasma is injected into the vagina, clitoris and G spot areas, after a numbing cream has been applied.

Because these areas have been numbed with anesthetic cream, you feel little or no pain and the actual injections themselves take no more than 5 minutes. The treatment is completely natural, using your own body’s platelets to stimulate vaginal and clitoral rejuvenation, with no down time. Some patients even have sexual encounters the same day.

After treatment, the vaginal and clitoral tissues become healthier and renewed, the nerves become more responsive, and women become more able to feel and control the musculature there. After the treatment, many women can become ejaculatory for the first time and also experience a resurgence in sexual energy, desire, and sensitivity.

How many treatments are necessary?

Just 2-4 treatments are sufficient to produce effects that can last up to 18 months, sometimes with noticeable improvements immediately after treatment.

Contact Stacey Power (RN) at Ever Young or Dr Brent Kirvan at Clinic Eleven to discuss how the PRP-Shot can work for you.

MALE PRP-SHOT

This treatment is the latest, natural advance for men suffering from erectile dysfunction, for those men who wish to straighten their organs, and for any man who could benefit from increased hardness and improved sexual desire.

30% of men in the world have had some form of erectile dysfunction at some stage in their lives. 30 million men in America alone suffer from this confidence-sapping condition. There are pills available to help, but they don’t work all the time and the side-effects can be dangerous for some men. Other options include implants or vascular replacement surgery, as well as the counseling sofa.

The penis is a vascular organ, so physical, erectile dysfunction in men is often due to the tissues in the penis losing elasticity as the endothelium decreases, ruining the vascularity of the penis and leading to erectile dysfunction.

For men, the PRP-Shot can stimulate these tissues and blood vessels to regrow, leading to improved vascularity and hardness, and a reduction in, and even complete reversal of, erectile dysfunction. Men will see an immediate increase in size, a straighter form, and increased sensitivity.

How does the procedure work?

A small amount of blood is taken and the liquid part of the blood, the plasma, is separated to give us purified and concentrated platelets. These platelets act as “first responders,” immediately traveling to any site in the body that needs repair. This is called PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, and the technique is used internationally to repair sports injuries quickly and rejuvenate skin and faces. With the PRP-Shot, this plasma is injected into several sides of the penis, after a numbing cream has been applied.

Because these areas have been numbed with anesthetic cream, you feel little or no pain and the actual injections themselves take no more than 5 minutes. The treatment is completely natural, using your own body’s platelets to stimulate vessel and tissue rejuvenation, with no down time. The organ is immediately fuller naturally, and the platelets continue to work on repairing, rejuvenating, and re-growing new tissue.

How many treatments are necessary?

Just 2-4 treatments are sufficient to produce effects that can last up to 18 months, and with further treatments the results can even be permanent.
